Maya printed nightgown
Maya printed nightgown
Description
Maya is a nightgown with a beautiful fullness, calf length, balloon-shaped raglan sleeves gathered above the elbow, flat collar worked by hand using the smocking technique.
The gathered embroidery creates small, even pleats that give the collar its structure, breathability, and comfort. Mother-of-pearl buttons fasten the front all the way down. One size fits all. Volume is the design choice, generosity is the standard.
The cotton voile is block-printed in Rajasthan, each motif hand-carved into a wooden block, each imprint individually applied to the fabric. The designs draw from the Mughal ornamental repertoire. The material, initially slightly textured, softens with each wash. The collar is embroidered in a contrasting thread, and the armholes are finished with a hand-stitched cross blanket stitch.
Made in family workshops in India, where artisanal know-how is passed down through generations, Maya brings together in a single garment engraving, inking, printing, sewing and embroidery, each gesture in its place.

Our History
Scarlette Ateliers is a design and publishing house specializing in home linens. and nightwear.
Designed in Paris, our cottons are woven, printed, and embroidered by hand between the south of the Indian peninsula and Rajasthan.
They were conceived and designed with love and respect for the gestures, the families who produce them, and ancestral traditions. A love story between croissant and paratha, pot-au-feu and butter chicken, Paris and New Delhi.
