The Mysore Sandal Soap plant in Mysore City, Karnataka State, Southwest India, produces the world's only soap based on pure sandalwood oil, and has been doing this for more than 100 years.
First, the wood is crushed with an iron weight. Then ground and passes through several processes before being transformed into powder. This powder is then distilled to obtain sandalwood oil, appreciated by Ayurvedic medicine for its anxiolytic properties. This soap is used daily by the Indians.
